Today Infiniti gave a virtual launch of the new 2011 Infiniti M at the 2009 59th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It is the world’s first ‘virtual only’ automotive application, when the vehicle was revealed through a unique video mapping process, in which a ‘virtual M’ was created on a 3D form with no physical vehicle present.
The 2011 M elegant yet sporty design is inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept, which was launched at this year’s Geneva Auto Show. Some of the innovative technology features of the car include blind spot intervention system, which alerts the driver if another vehicle is detected in an adjacent lane during lane changes. The vehicle features two different controls knobs: one on the center console and another below the navigation system.
The 2011 Infiniti M will be available in a M37 and M56 models, both powered by a V6 and V8 engine respectively. The M56 is expected to offer more than 400-hp. For Western Europe, the 2011 Infiniti M56 will be replaced by the V6 performance diesel. According to the manufacturer the fuel-economy will be increased.
Both models will be available starting in the spring of 2010 as 2011 models in 32 markets around the world, including Western Europe.
