Mazda has recently officially announced the Japanese market version of the Mazda6, and released information about the details and images of the mid-size vehicle. The 2011 model year Atenza has undergone some styling changes, chassis tweaks and now comes with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with direct injection. The mid-size vehicle will be available as a four-door sedan, five-door sedan, or five-door wagon.
The exterior changes to the vehicle mainly include a new front bumper, which is now more similar to recent models of the manufacturer, Mazda3 and recently revealed Mazda5. There front bumper features more pronounced air-inlets on the corners, while the back of the vehicle has a completely remodeled bumper, light clusters, and tailpipes. The exterior look of Mazda6 is completed with the newly styled 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The changes to the interior of the vehicle include the new glossy, piano-black finish that has been applied to the center panel, audio and air conditioner panel surrounds as well as the shift gate and steering wheel spokes, and the chrome garnish on the climate control and audio dials, shift knob and inner door handles.
2011 Mazda6 features a new, more efficient petrol 2.0-liter DISI1 engine, which will replace the current 2.0 engine. The MZR 1.8- and 2.5-liter petrol engines have also been updated.
The international premiere of the car will take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Though there is no official announcement, but it is assumed that the 2011 Mazda6 will be sold in overseas markets including Europe and North America soon after its debut.
