Mazda MX-5 20th Anniversary Edition to Debut in Geneva

Mazda has announced that it will take the wraps off its anniversary edition of the rear-wheel drive roadster Mazda MX-5, also known in other car markets of the world as the Miata at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The vehicle is designed to commemorate 20th Anniversary of the MX-5, and will be called the MX-5 20th Anniversary Edition. Only 2,000 units of the special edition vehicle will be built, which will be available to Mazda buyers only in Europe. Mazda hasn’t disclosed any information on whether the special edition will be introduced for the North American market or not.
It should be mentioned that the car manufacturer has already launched Mazda MX-5 20th Anniversary Edition in Japan last summer. However, the new vehicle for Europe will come with better exterior styling and improved suspension, as well as will have slightly different features and equipment.
The limited edition MX-5 is based on the 1.8-liter model and is expected to come with a special exterior styling package that includes chrome grille, door handles and headlight fascia along with silver-look fog lamp surrounds, unique 17-inch alloy wheels and 20th Anniversary special badging. The engine allows the vehicle to reach 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds.
Car buyers will be able to choose between three exterior colors – True Red, Crystal White Pearl and, specific for this edition, a new Aurora Blue, with matching body-color painted decorative elements in the interior.
Mazda will announce the pricing and more details at the world debut of the vehicle at next month’s Geneva Salon.
