Updated Maybach Facelift 2010

Not so much a name as a philosophy

It is said that in lieu of developing a next-gen Maybach, the company merely crafts an even more luxurious variant of the next-gen S-class similar to what Daimler used to do with the special stretched Pullman models.

Reports of Maybach’s demise may have been slightly exaggerated, anyway. The ultra-premium Daimler brand has released updated versions of its range, which is essentially the same vehicle with different configurations.

Only few revisions can be seen inside the car- new leather seating highlighted with piping containing Swarovski Crystallized Elements, while the perfume atomizer (previously offered only on the Zeppelin model) is available across the board. Designers have hallowed the entire portfolio with a revised large chrome grille, which flows into a revised hood stamping with stronger lines, tail lights and door mirrors, which also reduce wind noise for a quieter ride – these features can be mentioned as the main exterior benefits of the new Maybach. Beneath the new hood Daimler has optimized the V12 engine for marginally reduced emissions and fuel consumption, and while the standard engine stays pegged at 542 horsepower, the S version gets an 18-horse boost to 630.

A rumor says the facelift of 2010 Maybach will have its public premiere at the Beijing auto show this year. Nevertheless, the 2010 Maybach facelift engine will be modified to comply with the Euro V emissions standards. This indicates it will be more economical and will produce less CO2.
