Toyota’s president showcased their new futuristic Toyota Fun-Vii concept car at Tokyo Motor Show on Monday.
As the president Akio Toyoda described, it is a “Smartphone on four wheels.” Toyota Fun-Vii works like a personal computer and its exterior and interior can be adjusted to fit the driver’s mood.
Well, the design is highly inspired by modern smartphones and the exterior serves as a huge display on which the driver can show whatever he/she wants: can change the color in a minute, display graphics, images, motion videos and custom messages for other drivers or bystanders.
The interior of Toyota Fun-Vii concept can be “freely adjustable to match the mood of the moment” configured with colors and tints for various portions of the car. It has an autopilot function, a 3D hologram “navigation concierge” that uses voice commands to give information and directions, as well as an internet connection which gives an opportunity to interact with surroundings.
Some of the functions of Toyota Fun-Vii futuristic car can be accessed from outside of the car via Smartphone or tablet apps. When powered off the exterior of the three-seat Toyota Fun-Vii is jet black.
As it is a concept car, we have no idea whether the Toyota Fun-Vii will ever be produced or not. But one thing is clear: it will give birth to many concept cars inspired with this design and maybe one day in “20XX” we’ll see people driving “Smartphone on four wheels.”
