LA Auto Show: 2010 Range Rover Sport Autobiography

LA Auto Show: Audi R8 Spyder

Audi will only be offering the Spyder with the Lambo-derived 5.2-liter V10, putting out 525 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The V10 propels the Spyder to 62mph in 4.1sec (and to 124mph 12.7sec), two tenths of a second slower than its hard-top sibling. The top speed is down slightly at 194mph. Not bad deficits, taking into consideration the extra roof mechanism that’s been shoehorned into the supercar’s body. Along with the removal of the roof, the side blades have been dispatched in favor of a duo of scoops ahead of the rear wheels, while the windshield gets framed in brushed aluminum and a set of vented bulges trail off from the seats.
We don’t know much about Audi R8 Spyder, but soon the official details about will be revealed at the German expo.

LA Auto Show: Cadillac CTS Coupe

The CTS coupe rides on the sedan’s wheelbase. It has inches shorter height and two inches shorter length. It avoids a usual B-pillar for coupe styling and, surprisingly, loses its door handles for push-button entry similar to that offered on the Chevrolet Corvette.

The CTS coupe will have the sedan’s optional 3.6-liter direct-injected V6. The engine is fuel well enough to reach 27 mpg on the highway using regular unleaded. The base Performance Package has 18-inch wheels and all-season tires. The CTS Coupe will be presented with a choice of rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive on the Performance Package. The Summer Tire Performance package will be only accessible with sunbelt-friendly rear-wheel-drive.

Inside, the CTS Coupe will reflect the sedan in most ways, although we’ll have to wait until the LA unveiling for more details. GM affirmed that the standard CTS Coupe will offer the CTS-V sedan’s 14-way Recaro sports seats as an option.

And speaking of “V,” GM says it will release the much-anticipated CTS-V Coupe a few months after the standard model.

LA Auto Show: Honda P-Nut

The P-NUT — and officials of Honda really call it “peanut” at the press conference (rather than by its formal name, Personal Neo-Urban Transport) — may be a city car concept, but Honda’s racing heritage is evident in its seating layout.

It has three seats. Driver in the middle, flanked by two rear seats (a driver in the front middle, two passengers arranged behind and to either side). The P-NUT’s “modular” engine bay is more important than its 1+2 seating anyway. There are no side mirrors, instead there is a back-up camera. The Honda ‘Personal-Neo Urban Transport’ can make for a pretty sweet ride through a city, with lots of sight lines for the three inhabitants to see out of. The P-NUT does accomplish in Honda’s stated aim to get the most space out of a small footprint, and we wouldn’t mind some sort of production version BEV someday.

LA Auto Show: Hyundai Sonata

The Hyundai Sonata is a midsize family sedan accessible in GLS, SE and Limited trim levels. The standard engine on each Sonata trim level is a 2.4-liter inline-four-cylinder engine good for 175 horsepower and 168 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the GLS and SE trim levels with the four-cylinder, while a five-speed automatic is standard on the Limited and optional on the other trims. Optional on all Sonatas is a 3.3-liter V6 producing 249 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic is the only accessible transmission with this engine.

LA Auto Show: Porsche Boxter Spyder

The new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder, which is only 11 lbs more than the 10-year-old 986 Porsche Boxster, will be the lightest Porsche you can buy. It has Boxster Spyder’s 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine putting out 320 horses — that’s 10 more HP than the Boxster S. So; this means that it’ll be 176 lbs lighter than the Boxster S and get a touch more power. The new Porsche gets an all-new sport suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder 20 mm providing a lower center of gravity and a standard limited slip differential.

It is surprising but the price of the new lightweight Porsche is considered to be only $61,200 when it goes on sale in February.
