Japanese automaker is bringing back its compact SUV Vitara to push into the booming compact SUV class. 2015 Suzuki Vitara revealed as a new family-focused escape machine and a production version of the iV-4 Concept will be premiered at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

The new five-door car, which marks the return of the famous badge first used by Japanese automaker more than 25 years ago, is set to bridge the gap between the new suburban S-Cross and the off-road Grand Vitara. It starts below $30,000.

There is no mechanical information available, the automaker has revealed only an image. The fourth-generation Vitara is expected to be front-wheel drive with both petrol and diesel engine options, using the 86kW/156Nm 1.6-litre four cylinder from the S-Cross and a new 88kW/320Nm 1.6-litre turbo diesel. It is also reported to be outstanding fuel economy in the sector.

New Suzuki looks equally conservative in profile. The interior is will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show.

Off-roaders have been one of Suzuki’s strong points over the long time, with the Vitara, Jimny and Grand Vitara all winning commendations with small price tags. However, the problems have been with efficiency and quality, but the Japanese automaker hopes to rectify with the new vehicle, which goes on sale in the spring.
