2010-jaguar-xj-17Today Jaguar has finally unveiled its 2010 Jaguar XJ at the Saatchi Gallery in London. As expected, the new XJ’s has undergone some dramatic changes and become far more modern than the current car. The styling of the vehicle is radically different.

The most significant feature of the exterior of the vehicle is the panoramic glass roof that not only creates extra interior light but also gives a lower roofline. Jaguar will be available in both the standard and the long-wheel-base version. The XJ’s mechanical parts features aluminum construction, which make it very light compared to its competitors.

Interior of the XJ is all-new and features a unique, wrap-around dash, complete with plenty of wood and leather accents. A large LCD screen is front and center while rounded air vents give the XJ’s cabin an air of sportiness. Such features as a 1,200-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system, hard drive-based audio and navigation systems and connectivity for external audio and video devices are available for customers as an option.

Customers will have to choose the 2010 XJ between three separate trim levels – XJ, Supercharged and Supersport. Each of the models will be available in long-wheelbase form. The engines include the 3.0-litre V6 diesel, the 385-horsepower naturally aspirated V8, the 470-hp 5.0-litre supercharged V8 and also a 510 horsepower 5.0-litre supercharged V8 unit. All XJ models will use a six-speed automatic transmission.

2010 Jaguar XJ is currently available to order. The first customers are expected to receive their cars in early 2010. Prices start at £52,500 ($85,569.75 USD) for the standard wheelbase 3.0-liter V6.

Jaguar XKR Goodwood Special with 530HP V8

July 6th, 2009 Wise Car Shopper No comments

jaguar-xkr-goodwood-special-0Jaguar’s special edition XKR one-off performance model that was purposely built for the event was painted in an extremely distinct lime-green color while the coupe also featured special exterior graphics in gray and orange.

The standard 2010 XKR facelift include the 21-inch alloys and the satin graphite detailing to the front grilles, door mirrors, rear signature blade, side window surrounds, headlights and bonnet louvres.

XKR special edition features a lowered suspension and a tweaked exhaust system for a louder and more intimidating sound. Jaguar said that that the XKR Goodwood Special is a one-off model but we gather that if there’s enough interest, the British automaker may launch a limited run series in the near future.

What’s more is that Jaguar’s engineers fiddled around with the XKR’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that in standard form makes 510HP and 625Nm or 461 lb-ft of torque launching the sports coupe from standstill to 60mph (96km/h) in 4.6 seconds. In the XKR Goodwood Special, output is lifted to 530 horsepower and torque to 700Nm or 516.2 lb-ft.

jag-xkr-goodwood-green-580Jaguar has announced that they are planning to release a special one off XK-R that will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.

The new vehicle is called XK-R Goodwood Special and features a unique Lime Green exterior paint and XKR exterior graphics. The car is based on the facelifted 2010 which is equipped with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 510HP and 625Nm of torque. The vehicle accelerates to 60mph (96km/h) from standstill in 4.6 seconds. The Goodwood Special XKR features a scheme with satin graphite detailing applied to the front grilles, headlights, door mirrors, window surrounds, rear spoiler, and bonnet louvers. Other unique touches include performance enhancements, a louder exhaust, 21-inch alloy wheels.

Jaguar will also present several historic vehicles at the festival including the 1957 Le Mans winning long-nose D-type, the first C-type to win Le Mans, and the stillborn XJ13 racer which never saw action due to the company’s financial instability.

The production value of the Goodwood Special XKR is not clear yet, but it is assumed that some of its performance parts are likely to be available in Jaguar dealers for the 2010 model year.

2010 Jaguar XFR undercuts German rivals with $80,000 starting price

0303-20_xfr_10my_optBy the introduction of the XF sedan the renaissance of Jaguar has really began. It was then, when the first Jaguar model in, well a long time, that deserved serious consideration from luxury sport sedan buyers and the first that could hold its own against rivals from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. The second salvo came at this year’s Detroit Auto Show where Jaguar unveiled the XFR. Being powered by a supercharged, direct-inject version of Jaguar’s 5.0L V8 that produces 510 horsepower, the XFR was specifically designed to stare down the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
Jaguar North America has just announced pricing for the 2010 model XF, and the XFR model rings at $80,000 even. That’s a few thousand less than both the M5 and E63 AMG, and the XFR produces more power than both. The Audi S6, meanwhile, is less expensive than all three, but also significantly less powerful with just 435 hp (the 580-hp RS6 isn’t sold in the U.S.).
